The girls are wearing their ski socks, sliding and spinning across the tile floor between the bottom of the steps and the dining room table. They're figure skating--Mighty Mouse is in the eight-year-old class; Emma the Brave's with the teenagers. They work on their axels, lutzes, and spins, falling on purpose only to stomp the 'ice' in faux exasperation.
There isn't a toy in sight.
